Divine Bathroom Inspiration
Let your creativity shine through
Bathroom design inspirations come from everywhere and anywhere you can imagine. You just have to open your mind up to the possibilities beyond the box. Be it a romantic trip you’ve taken with your husband or a playful pattern on your daughter’s favorite dress, when you find something you love, the design possibilities are endless. If the bathroom you’re designing is to service the home office, you might flow with the office theme. If it’s an extra en suite bathroom you crave, you might go powder perfect. The confines of your imagination are the only limits, and your passion for style will stretch those confines!
International Trips
If you can’t wait to revisit Paris, Belize or Thailand, bring it to you. If you’ve traveled to a distant shore, it’s likely that you’ve picked up a sense of the culture and the styles popular within that culture. Grab some library books to affirm your favorites, and get busy designing. If your budget is small, you might focus on using cultural colors and fabrics, whereas if your budget is bigger, you might include something like a Victorian chest as a vanity. With a huge budget, you can even recreate the bathhouses of Japan or the Swedish spas you loved so much. Incorporate foreign design elements into your bathroom and make every day a vacation!
Fabrics
The scarf your father gave you for Christmas last year was so beautiful you wore it every day of winter. Now it sits in a drawer during the summer months. Use the colors and pattern to inspire your bathroom design. Most paint stores can color-match paints to come very close to fabric samples, and you can create stencils to help you apply a funky design to the walls. Let the gentle swoops of the paisley define the shape of the sink or wall hangings, and let your mind unwind on the rest of the room.
Purpose-Driven Inspiration
All bathrooms are not created equal. There are some that serve as the main bathroom for an entire family and those that stand unused until company comes. The purpose that a bathroom is to serve can be part of the inspiration that drives its design. For instance, if you’re designing a child’s bathroom, you might add lower shelving for towels and extra toilet paper. If you are designing a half-bath for the media room, you might use old movie posters for wallpaper if you’re a movie buff or hang sports memorabilia on the walls if you’re the ultimate sports fan.
